28/11/2008 |
At the end of 2008, Ian Nickerson will be handing over management responsibility for the BIS Industrial Services Group in the United Kingdom to Steve Waugh, currently CEO of BIS OHARE and a member of the UK Group's management board. Next year, Ian will be performing special functions within the BIS Group in an advisory capacity and providing the UK management with support. As the new CEO, Steve Waugh will continue the Group's successful strategy in the UK backed by the experienced management teams at the UK companies. Specifically, the management team comprises Mike Main, managing director of BIS Salamis M&I Ltd, David Nickerson, managing director of BIS Salamis Ltd, Duncan Hall, managing director of BIS OHARE, and Gordon Davidson CFO of the UK Group. On behalf of the UK Group's board and BIS Group as a whole, Dr, Rudolf K. Jürcke, COO of BIS AG, had this to say: "We thank Ian for the contribution which he has made to BIS Salamis' success over the past nine years and for making the company what it is today. Following the acquisition of BIS OHARE in 2007, he assumed management responsibility for the UK Group as CEO and made an enduring contribution to strengthening our market position. We are very pleased that Ian will be continuing to support our Group with his knowledge of the market and experience. In particular, he will be helping during the transition period in which management responsibility passes to Steve." Steve Waugh is a mechanical engineer and has materially helped to turn BIS OHARE as it is today into one of the leading engineering companies for the chemicals and refinery industries in the United Kingdom. Prior to this he gained international management experience at major companies in the chemicals and oil industry. He supplemented his education by participating in the INSEAD programme. Via BIS Salamis, the BIS UK Group holds a leading position in maintenance services for the offshore market including a growing share of inspection business. In the onshore market, BIS OHARE and BIS Salamis are pursuing joint growth strategies with maintenance services and outsourcing projects aimed at providing customer benefits in the form of lower costs and heightened plant facility.
