"Best Practice - Safety Cargo Baskets"

As you are well aware, Marathon Oil Company is absolutely commited to providing a Safe Work Environment for our employees and our contractor partners.  We are continually searching for new ways to improve our Safety Practices and we are always open to new, innovative ideas to accomplish this goal.

Recently, Salamis Supervisor, Jackie Cathey, introduced to Charlie Harrison a new cargo basket designed with a walk in door on one end cap.  While simple in design, this appears to be an improvement to the more conventional design requiring potential bending over to place/retrieve items and possibly causing injury.  We commend Jackie and Salamis' management for your "Thinking Outside the Box" attitude and most importantly, your actions to initiate utilization of these cargo boxes.  Marathon will likely begin using this same design soon.

We look forward to our continued relationship with Salamis and encourage all of the Salamis employees to share any and all ideas they may have to help all of us improve our Safety Performance.

Sincerely, Joseph W. Sologub, JR.

Recent work from the Leman Echo shows BIS in a good light as far as innovation is concerned this system scaffold approach has allowed us to repair and paint our vent stack in parallel with other actvities on the platorm

Benefits
Light weight scaffold overcame plaform structural strength limitations
speed of erection
waterproof screening allowed us to paint in bad weather
encapsulation allowed us to work elsewhere on the platform without risk of dropped objects from above

Thanks for your contribution to the Upgrade onegas team

It has been a fantastic achievement from all involved in the Alba Turnaround that all work was completed ahead of schedule and with 100% completion of all planned activities.

The commitment, energy and effort expended over the preceding months by the team has been exceptional and everyone who has contributed to this can be extremely proud of the part they played in its success.

I would like to pass on my thanks to the cleaners who have been out to the Brent Bravo for our shutdown.  They guys have played their part in trying to meet our targets and times for completing the cleaning and UHP of the various vessels and tank taking into consideration the various obstacles, delays through no fault of their own.

One of the cleaners who have been out this trip Wullie McManus has been very helpful and has played his part in meeting our targets.  I have observed Wullie constantly at the sharp end in the vessels and drains tank safety suited up correct PPE carrying out his duties and I have thanked him for his contribution and would have no hesitation in welcoming Wullie back to the Brent Bravo for any future work.

I would like to take this opportunity to commend the lads for a well executed TAR campaign.

In particular Steve Wharrier who ran the team safely, professionally and efficiently. A full recoat of V-18 was added to the TAR at the last moment, which was a sizable scope to pull together at short notice. Steve and his team managed along with the onshore team to get this delivered as well and not to mention all the other little jobs that come along during a TAR.

Nice job, thanks very much for the contribution to the Lomond Define Challenge this week. You sold yourselves and Salamis very well and demonstrated a true professional approach to your roles.

Your knowledge and understanding of the scopes was spot on.

I would like to bring your attention to the great work done by the Salamis cleaning crew during the East Brae shutdown.
The guys involved (W Mair, B Ford, J Tilton and S Riach) worked hard, and were always on the job.
They worked safely at all times, took on additional tasks without complaint, and achieved all their planned work.
Their flexibility, co-operation and friendly nature helped us out all the way through the shutdown.

I would like to express my thanks to the 6 BIS salamis scaffold team members associated with the Flare remedial work during the recent 24hour TAR.  The activity set was scheduled for a 14 hour window during daylight hours which is driven by stand by boat coverage.

It is great to know that I had a dedicated, safety conscious, scaffold team like these lads who worked extremely well together and overcome the hurdles which could have potentially extended the Forties Field shutdown over the planned 24hr period.
