BIS Salamis employee wins O&GUK Safety Award
BIS Salamis is celebrating success after Robert Scott, Scaffolder on Marathon Oil's East Brae Platform, won the award for Safety Representative of the Year at the 2012 UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety awards, sponsored by Maersk Oil.
This award recognises Robert's active participation and effectiveness promoting and committing to the industry's safety agenda. Robert was nominated by Marathon for the award.
Malcolm Webb, Chief Executive of Oil & Gas UK said, "Once again we have had an inspiring day at our industry's safety awards. Nothing is more important in the oil and gas industry than the safety of our operations and that of the people who work on them. The workforce and companies alike are committed to continuously improving safety. Which is why we had such a strong and impressive response to these awards from all across the industry."
Robert was presented with an iPad by Mike Main, Managing Director, and Marc Forbes, Project Manager in recognition of his award. Robert commented;
"This award is very much the result of a team effort. I'd like to thank all of the BIS Salamis workforces and safety representatives on the field for their fantastic efforts to make this possible. Let's keep going and keep focused."
This is the third year running that a BIS Salamis employee has made it to the finals. Back in 2010, Victoria Lee, HSEQ Advisor, picked up the award for Most Promising Individual and John Murphy made the shortlist for Safety Representative of the Year at last year's awards.
